5th January 2017 - Head's Letter to Parents
Dear Year 11 Parent/Carer
The consultation process has now begun regarding the proposed closure of the school’s sixth form. As promised, we are doing all we can to provide our Year 11 students with advice and guidance in order to ensure they can plan for their futures should the sixth form close.
We wanted to advise you that Cadbury College and Kings Norton Girls’ School and Sixth Form have both kindly offered to run additional open events specifically for KNBS Year 11 students.
Details are as follows:
* Cadbury College open event - Monday 9 January from 4pm. Staff and students from the college will be available to provide information and answer any questions. KNBS students and their parents will be able to take a tour of the college including their Open Resource Centre and coffee shop. There will also be a presentation by senior staff and students at 5pm.
* Kings Norton Girls’ School open event - Monday 30 January from 3:30pm. Staff and students will be available to provide information and answer any questions. KNBS students will also be able to take a tour of the school and a presentation will take place at 4pm. Kings Norton Girls’ School have kindly extended their deadline for applications from KNBS students to their 6th form until Monday 6 February.
There are also many open events scheduled this term by a variety of post-16 providers. Information about which can be found in the ‘Careers’ section on our website.
Our careers adviser, Miss Barrowclift, is currently working an extra day a week so that she can support our Year 11 students with their choices for next year. Those students who had originally indicated that they were planning to join KNBS sixth form have either recently had an additional careers interview or have one scheduled. If at any time you or your son feel that he needs further support then please contact Mrs Newton who co-ordinates the careers interviews.
