15 February 2017

Dear Parent/Carer

As we approach half term, I would like to keep you informed on a few topics.

There is good news regarding attendance. We are currently running just below our school target of 96%, which is up almost one percent on our final figure for last year. I would like to thank you for your support in not making requests for students to miss school during term time for family holidays. I have received far fewer requests so far this term and your support is helping us make strong progress in this key area for improvement identified by Ofsted.

6th Form Consultation

The consultation for ending 6th form provision at KNBS closed on Thursday 2 February 2017. All of the information is now with Birmingham City Council and we await their decision on or before 2 April 2017. We will keep you informed once we have details of their decision.

School Performance

You will be aware that we were very pleased with our GCSE exam results for last summer. The government website, https://www.compare-school-performance.service.gov.uk/ gives you the opportunity to look at the key headline figures and compare our performance with schools nationally and other schools locally.

We have welcomed back Miss Moysi, one of our Assistant Heads, this week after her maternity leave. Mr Clarke, our Head of Design and Technology, leaves at the end of this week. We wish him well in his move back to South Wales.

Contact Details

We have had a number of occasions recently where we have tried to contact parents of students but have not been able to as we have incorrect mobile numbers on our system. Can we ask that you update the school as a matter of urgency if you have recently changed your mobile or work details.
